The Word Cum

I hate the word cum.

Granted, I also strongly dislike semen, but they are no correlated.

Come is fine. I come (on a regular basis). I come (verb) by myself, and with others. I like to come (verb) on your face. I have never ejaculated, but if I did, my ejaculatory fluid would be come (noun).

Cum, spelled c-u-m, to me, is gross. A turn off. When I read it in a story, or a review, or a sexy message, it is a turn off.  Really. I stop reading, and just get this picture of white, viscous-y semen dripping down a brick wall (long story).

But the worst is when people use c-u-m as a verb.  I mean, I’m STARTING to be able to handle it as a noun; “I had cum dripping down my ass crack.” It’s hard, I still don’t like it, it still turns me off, but I can deal. BUT C-U-M IS NOT A VERB.  Really. The verb is to come.  Past tense; came.  Present tense; coming.

Examples:

I want to come all over your face.

Please don’t stop fucking me, I’m coming so hard.

I cam e so hard when you fucked me; will you please do it again while you are still inside my vagina.

And if it comes down to it:

I don’t like dried cum on my sheets, so please wear a condom. (also could use c-o-m-e in this situation.  Really, you can).

So really, for the sake of my soul and mind, PLEASE use the word come to refer to anything that involves action, and if you MUST use the spelling c-u-m, let it only be in the case of the noun.  Ie, a slang synonym for ejaculate (male or female).  Otherwise, it’s come (and even so, it’s come). Come. No u.

On that note…I’d really like to come. Any takers?

This is a huuuuge pet peeve of mine. Cum is… nasty in the bad way. To come, or making someone else come, I’m in, but cum is a disgusting word, and elicits old splooges everywhere- like the DNA samples you’d find under black light on hotel carpeting. Yuck.

I could NOT agree more. I absolutely refuse to spell it c-u-m.

ok, I accept that you folks don’t like a particular word, but can you share as to why ? I think it’s a fine word, enjoy the sound of it , enjoy the look and feel of it (but again, not connected to the use of the word)….guess I have heard a number of people say they don’t like that word, much as I’ve known some folks who don’t like the word “cock” or “cunt”….but not sure I understand the why and sure would be willing to be enlightened.

I used to write for Hustler, so the come/cum question is one I’ve thought inordinately hard about.

I don’t hate it with the same vehemence as you do, but I think I’d limit ‘c-u-m’ to porn/erotica and stuff that will never get published and just stays on the web – and I NEVER use it as a verb. In fact, I don’t think I even use the term ‘coming’ since I can think of a million sexier ways to describe that.

In anything else, though, the word ‘cum’ is absolutely verboten. I think serious publishers would laugh at you if you included it.

Essinem and I had this talk when we worked together – I abhor the c–t word, while she considers it okay to use, even a sign of female empowerment, while I see things the other way around. Curiously, we have exact opposite positions on the c-m word. I think it’s sexy and hot and I love reading it in my erotica.

All a matter of perspective – but I validate you and respect your position! :-D

I agree with you Essinem about the word cum. I don’t hate it but I dislike it. I find it vulgar and slang. However, I do use other vulgar/slang words that I don’t mind, but I think the word CUM conjures up mind images that gross me out, probably from being bombarded with porn and often misogynous/objectifying associations with the word: “Cum sucking whores” etc… I also dislike all the porn associated with Cum, like snowballing, facials, bukkake, and several others I don’t want to go into. “Come” however, is a verb, everyone does it and is not associated with fluids but just with the pleasure action, so conjures up emotional intensity.

Can we get an AMEN? Misspelling is not sexy, it’s just misspelling.

i think i don’t like it because it reminds me of ‘gum’.. so i think of ‘cum’ as.. gummy. thick. or dried and old.. it makes me kinda nauseous.

    hear, hear!
as a non-native speaker of english i always thought it was just me that thought “cum” didn’t sound right.
but yet another proof for “ugol’s law”:
questions that start with “am i the only one who…” are without exception always to be answered with a NO!
    hurray for c-o-m-e!

I sooo agree. Always have, ever since my days as a wee fanfic reader. Like you, I can _kind of_ stand it as a noun (kind of but not really), but “I’m cumming”?!? Seriously, are porn/erotica/smut writers just *challenged*??

(No offense to said writers. Unless they use “cum”.)

I’ll toast to that. Fucking hate that word and avoid it. I cringe a little when people use it.

It never used to bother me, but now I feel as I’ve been through aversion therapy and I will be completely ready to loathe it. I’m a sucker for peer pressure.

Cum is the Latin word for with and that is that. To use it any other way is plain wrong, not to mention lead some questionable but Latin-knowledgeable individuals (not me, of course) to make bad jokes based on this fact.
