Hotel HNT
I know that the average person enjoys staying in hotels. I mean, granted, not everyone loves it…but I’d say that most people enjoy it.
Well, I LOVE hotels. I mean, ok, there was the Econo lodge with the cigarette burns in the comforter and bullet holes in the wall (but I guess that’s not really a hotel)…anyways, overall, I love hotels.
Growing up, we never used top sheets (the flat sheets) in my house. My mother would sew our kiddie top sheet to a plane colored one, making us comforter covers that matched our sheets. So when I went to the hotel, and they had a top sheet, it felt so lovely, so luxurious. Even now, I don’t always use a top sheet, but when I do, it feels amazing.
I love being able to get a bucket full of ice with no trouble. I really enjoy sucking on ice cubes (while reading, while typing, while watching TV), but at home, they’re a pain to make, and they’re never the right size. Ice buckets and ice machines are genius.
The little samples of shampoos, lotions, bathsalts, etc? Well, if I like it, I keep it in my bathroom for guests (or put the lotion in my purse). If I’m not so much a fan myself, I collect them, and twice a year, I donate a giant bag of mini toiletries to my local women’s shelter (if you travel, you should consider it – they usually really appreciate it!).
My guilty pleasure (when not staying with my sister) is to stay up late watching cheesy dating shows. Especially “Blind Date.” I NEVER EVER EVER watch it when at home, but love doing it in hotels. Also enjoyable are the Law and Order (Criminal Intent or SVU) marathons.
When I’m not with my family, I love to masturbate in hotels. The sheets so soft and silky against you skin, a new environment, and not knowing whether there is someone in the room next door trying to hear through the wall. Dinah Shore 2007, I had 48 hours of ridiculously hot sex in my hotel room (only time I’ve had sex in MY hotel room, though I played with Dana and Miss Avarice at their room in Florida). And I had amazing balcony sex. Mmmm. Hotel sex is amazing. I would like to have more of it, please.
I like being naked on my balcony. People rarely look up at balconies…so I’ll sit out there reading, maybe with underwear on, maybe not, letting the breeze caress my skin and body.
I like the free breakfasts…the pools, and especially the hot tubs…the free cookies/candies/pens some hotels have in their lobbies.
The hotel my family stayed at for Thanksgiving had two extra special amenities; ROBES (see above – genius!) and chocolate. We got mints on our pillows with a turn down service, and a box of chocolates when we settled in (side note: my family is not rich. I told my mother I’d much rather have help with my medical bills then go here for Thanksgiving. No avail. I’m still broke and in debt, but I did get “free” chocolates).
Anyways, so ends my ode to hotels. Seriously – it’s not that hard to seduce me….just take me to your hotel room ;)

I love hotels, too! I love them so much that the availability of a hotel I’d like to stay at is an actual determining factor in any travel plans we make. The last one we stayed at had the fancy robes. My favorite one, though, had a fireplace, and you could open two huge windows that looked out on the Pacific Ocean. When you got to the end of the hotel parking, you stepped over the divider onto BEACH. Lovely.
Damn lady. Now I want to go spend a day or two in a hotel just for the hell of it! Though I can relate. I do just about everything you posted and love many of the same things about hotels that you do. I even watch cheesy television I wouldn’t normally dream of watching. The saving the mini toiletries and donating them is freaking GENIUS! I have to do that now.

I like hotels but only when I have company – I’ve had to spend too many nights in them alone. My wife and I spent last weekend in a Sheraton hotel in Brussels (Belgium) with many of the nice features you describe. It was wonderful. :-) Happy HNT.

Mmm, I love hotels too. We do most of our fun photoshoots at the hotels we stay in – there’s just something nice about walking into that perfect pristine room. I never ever seem to make it to the pool or the hot tub though…one of these days!
