I’ve been reading about your current situation, trying to think if I have anything helpful to say about all the awful stuff you’ve had to endure lately. I went through a breakup myself a little over a year ago during a period of intense change and difficulty in other areas of my life, including leaving a horrible but lucrative job for a new career. That breakup, on top of everything else, was nearly the “straw that broke the camel’s back” for me.

I found some solace in doing things I loved (art, Taiji). But I also had to bite the financial bullet and find a sliding-scale fee therapist. I chose one that noted their support of LGBT issues on their website. It’s helped a lot for all my life difficulties, and they were willing to see me for very little $.

Fifteen months later, that violation of my trust still hurts, and I’m still pretty angry. But I’m stronger now, so the anger and hurt aren’t paralyzing any more. I feel for you, and wish I had something more to offer, like a real shoulder to cry on. Keep on writing, keep on teaching!
