wow, that's so great that y'all have such a cool place available to you.

and, 'em? can you maybe add a glossary? ;) that is, i didn't know what an iud is (thanks, google!), and i wonder if maybe others don't know some of the lingo.

Adriana - I've heard that from EVERY gyno I've been to, and in grad school (for human sexuality). It's not that it makes it go more quickly, rather, it just provides access to the uterus and the cervix that is not normally there, increasing the risk of STIs moving into those areas.

Cassie - That's interesting. I've been on my nuva ring for 4 years...and with two exceptions other than you, everyone I know LOVE LOVE LOVES it. Including myself and my sister. I do have dryness, but I did before hand - allergy meds. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you.

Noel - Welcome to the best state in the US! And yeah, I have lots of beef with many medical professionals.

Holy hell, I'm moving to Colorado! It took me 4 different doctors (is south Alabama) to get an IUD finally. Of course, I'm 24, nulliparous, and have multiple partners... so I get their issue. But it was still irritating to be told by 2 of them that "they didn't have statistics about the possibilities of infertility, but I didn't want to be be that percentage". Um, no.... but I *do* want to make an informed decision about my own body!

My experience with Nuva Ring....it caused me the worst vaginal dryness of my life. I am sort of prone to dryness anyways, and most forms of hormonal birth control increased the problem, but of all the many types I tried (um Yasmin, about 4-5 generic pill forms, the patch, Nuva Ring), Nuva Ring was the worst. My sister, who has never experienced dryness before complains of the same issue.

I hope that this is not the case for you!!! I am mostly just surprised they recommended that to you because it's something everyone who's had it that I know has complained about (except my friend heather who seems to have Niagra falls happening in her v-zone).

I have never heard about IUD strings causing STDs to travel more quickly and find that a bit.. dubious.
