Seconding Arron about Underworks. I know Em personally prefers the 997 because of the longer length - it contours everything into one nice line.

as a regular binder-wearer, i wouldn't encourage anyone to wear one unless they really felt they needed to for their psychological health or if they're going to be in some sort of danger without one (i.e. guys for whom not binding would reveal their trans status in unwanted situations). they're uncomfortable and sweaty and even the best ones restrict breathing and put pressure on ribs.

that said, the lightest, least restrictive binder i've found (the one i use for everyday wear) is the g2c compression shirt, made for men with gynecomastia. http://gc2compression.com/
with this binder especially, it's important to remember that the goal is contouring, not brute force flattening - pushing things around to make as smooth a line as possible between belly, chest, and neck.

Underworks is great for binders. Personally, I'm a fan of the 983.
