Self Serve Delivers Third Annual Erotic Film Festival to Anxious Albuquerque Audiences

Albuquerque, N.M. (October 23, 2009) – Hosted and curated by adult retail boutique Self Serve and co-presented by Albuquerque’s last independent art house, Guild Cinema, the third annual Pornotopia Film Festival comes November 6-8, 2009.

This year, Pornotopia features three days of pleasing programming, engaging live talks, rousing on-stage performances and will welcome guest Tristan Taormino, the award-winning author, columnist, editor and sex educator.

As one of only a few erotic film festivals in the country – and the only festival of its kind in the Southwest – it’s no surprise the festival has received some skepticism and scorn in years past.  But despite its controversy, Pornotopia has received overwhelming support for being a festival whose aim is to change the way people see sexuality portrayed in film. Thanks to its champions, like the New Mexico ACLU, community sponsors and volunteer committees comprised of all walks of life and sexualities, the festival has expanded in 2009 with even more screenings, live performances and events

“Pornotopia is a community created and run festival that celebrates filmmakers who aren’t afraid to keep it real, when mainstream porn fails to satisfy,” says Matie Fricker, Self Serve co-owner and festival director.  “Pornotopia showcases sex on the big screen that is healthy, tender, raw and beautiful.”
