Report „E-commerce in Poland 2021” – what we spend most on
After approx. Polish consumers spend PLN 200 per month on footwear (PLN 201), clothing (PLN 199) and groceries (PLN 188) during e-shopping. These values are similar to those of a year ago – back then respondents declared spending 228, 190 and 194 PLN respectively on products in the above categories. This year they spend considerably more on audio/video devices: 1232 PLN over the 6 months, compared to 915 PLN declared in the previous wave of the survey.
Younger people buy cell phones, older people buy food and medicines
Residents of major cities spend more on products in most categories. The oldest respondents, over 50, spend the most on groceries and pharmaceuticals. year of age (PLN 211 and PLN 138, respectively). The youngest (15-24 years old) spend the most on mobile devices – in their case the amount reaches nearly PLN 1,300 over a period of 6 months, almost twice as much as spent on products in this category by people aged 25-34 (PLN 677).
Most do not plan to change
62% of respondents do not intend to change their level of online spending in the future. However, if they do plan to change, they expect to increase their spending (25%) rather than decrease it (5%). The group of respondents who most often support increasing the amount spent on e-shopping are the youngest (15-24 years old) – this option was indicated by as many as 35% of them. On the other hand, people who negatively assess their household’s financial situation want to reduce their online spending (15% of responses).
Quick payments the most popular
When asked which payment methods they have ever used when shopping online, respondents definitely indicated quick transfer through a payment service (70%). In second place are mobile payments (48%) and traditional bank transfer (42%). Mobile payments deserve special attention (e.g. The most popular payment methods were BLIK, which recorded an exceptionally high increase in indications compared to last year, when only 35% of respondents declared using this form of payment, which translated into the sixth position in the ranking. Mobile payments are relatively more popular among younger e-consumers (66% indications in the 15-24 age group and 57% in the 25-34 age group, with 32% indications in the 50+ group).ż.). Quick transfer is by far the favourite method of payment among people who have experienced online shopping for the first time earlier than the last two years (74% of indications). In the group of people with less experience in e-commerce, this percentage was significantly lower – 49%.
PayU is the leader of payment services
Among the payment services used most often during online shopping, a particularly high percentage of respondents indicated PayU (48%). In second place was the Przelewy24 brand, indicated by 36% of respondents.
